Choosing an effective Online Counsellor is like choosing a life partner - chemistry and trust are an essential combination in a successful relationship. Got questions? I’ve got answers! I go above and beyond to act as a safety net for my clients, and strive to make their experience as pleasant as possible. Take a look at some answers to the most frequently asked questions by Counselling clients.

How long are counselling sessions?

Counselling sessions online, via telephone and face to face last for 50 minutes. We will agree a day and time that is convenient for you. Usually this will be the same day and time on a weekly basis.

What online platform do you use?

I use Zoom as it is an easy to use platform which offers privacy and security with end to end encryption.

How much do you charge?

Sessions cost £40 for face to face counselling and are payable either in cash, or via bank transfer by the end of each session. Online and telephone counselling costs £35 with payment due on the day of your session before your next one is booked. There are consessions for counselling students with face to face counselling costing £30 and online or telephone counselling costing £25. There is also a discount for block booking:

Face to Face counselling:

  • 4 or more sessions paid in advance from £140 (£35)

Online and telephone Counselling:

  • 4 or more sessions paid in advance from £120 (£30)

How do I know you are qualified

I am a fully qualified counsellor, holding a BA (hons) in counselling. I am a registered member of the governing body BACP. You can check my registration with them at www.bacp.co.uk/search/register. My membership registration number with the BACP is 386995.

Where are you based?

For my online and telephone counselling I work from my home office in Lancashire. As an online and telephone counsellor I offer counselling to people across the UK and abroad. For face to face counselling I am based at the Heritage Centre in Darwen Lancashire. I currently have face to face sessions available on Wednesdays. I have flexible availability for online and telephone counselling through out the week.

How do I know if I want to work with you?

I offer a free  session up to 45 minutes via zoom, telephone or face to face. This will give us the opportunity to have a chat, for you to get a feel of who I am and If you would be happy to work with me as your therapist.

How will I pay you?

For face to face counselling sessions you have the choice of paying cash or via bank transfer. Bank transfer is the only option for online and telephone counselling. we can discuss this during your free session and agree the best way for you to pay. Payments are due at the end of every session. There is also the option to block book sessions which gives you a discount when paid in advance.

Is there any paper work?

If we decide to work together I will ask you to read and sign a working agreement which sets out how we will work together, what you can expect from me and what I expect from you as well as explaining confidentiality, its limitations, GDPR, what that means and what your rights are. I will also require you to fill in a emergency contact sheet. All the information you provide me with will be held in line with my confidentiality and GDPR policies (which I can  provide you with if requested).
